GOOD PLACE TO STAY IN PRAGUE, QUITE CENTRAL AND WITH A REASONABLE PRICE

As a traveller on a tour with a Norwegian choir, I spent three nights at the Crystal Palace hotel in central Prague. The hotel is located in a quiet side street with a 10-15 minutes walk to central Prague. Not much noise from the traffic outside was heard when we stayed there. Checking in took quite along time, but as we were a group 40 persons we can understand the situation. The lobby also was quite small so some of us had to wait outside for the checking in. Our room was quite small, but OK, with shower and toilet and some toilet articles and a wiev of the backyard. Breakfast was good with multiple choices. Sometimes both coffe and juice had to be refilled. However, the room was quite noisy when the guests filled the room. Some curtains would perhaps have made it easier to speak across the table. There was also a charming and sunny outside terrasse where some of the guests preferred to have their breakfast. The staff was attentive and willing to help if needed. One of the choir members celebrated her birthday during our visit. The choir did a performance of "Happy Birthday to you" at breakfast, and immediately after one of the waiters brought her a bottle of red wine as a greeting from the hotel. Very popular both for her as for the choir members. An OK place to stay if you are looking for a reasonable price for a stay in this fascinating city, a good service, but not luxury. Henry J. We booked this hotel which is presented as a fantastic hotel and the pictures are completely Photoshopped! The hotel is completely run down, the room is miserable, the beds are bad and the breakfast is embarrassingly poor. On arrival we asked for help with parking but the receptionist was not helpful at all and provided absolutely no service!! I have traveled the world for 25 years but NEVER experienced such a poor hotel and poor service

I was fairly happy with it for the price I paid. The room was clean and looked like it had been refurbished, bathroom looked new. I agree with other reviews that is is not a 4* hotel, it is a 3* at the most and that is the price I paid. My check-in experience was a faff and my room was missed for cleaning on 1 day but apart from that, everything was fine.

Very nice clean option for an affordable stay just a little off the beaten path. Great breakfast. Tidy rooms. On a side street with no traffic or night noise. Walk to the train station in 20 minutes, old town in 15. Totally satisfied for the price. Only comment is that the owners enjoy saving electricity so everywhere from halls to lobby is always dark. Very dark. Could creep out some travellers on their own. Nice bathrooms too. A very good value for the money.

The only positive thing about this hotel is the location. However, there are dozens of other, better hotels in the area. This one is old, tired, and hasn’t been brought up to date since the 80’s. It’s not a horrible place but it’s not anywhere worth the money it cost (week between Christmas and New Year 2022 was $170 per night!!). We were expecting a much nicer place. The wardrobe area was so small that we could hang maybe 4 items. The bathroom didn’t have any sort of curtain or door or glass on the tub and the shower head sprayed about 180 degrees which inevitably soaked the entire bathroom, including the towels, the toilet paper and any clothes you may have brought in. And the floor was flooded. The carpet was at least 30 years old. The mattress was cheap and hard. The temperature in the room couldn’t be adjusted. The front desk staff didn’t speak very fluent English, and were rude. When our room got too cold and we couldn’t adjust the temp, I couldn’t call down to the front desk as the phone didn’t contain any instructions how to do so, and commonly used numbers, 0 or 9, didn’t work. So I had to call them using their outside phone number. When I did, the lady at the front desk barely understood me when I told her the room is too cold and could they send someone to fix the heat? She said “no one here to fix” and hung up on me. I called back and told her that I am a guest here and my room is too cold and to get someone up here to fix it or send us more blankets. That she understood and sent us more comforters. A solution, but not the ideal one. I don’t recommend anyone stay here.
